What exactly can you expect as a student here at North Hennepin? Our orientation answers any question you could have about what happens after acceptance and before your first day.
It is important to complete orientation as soon as possible in order to register for classes!
Orientation Steps
In order to register for classes, students must complete a two-step orientation process to register for classes.
1. First, complete the Online Orientation for your admissions status. You will need your StarID and password to log in. You need to select the course that corresponds to your admit type.
- New Student Orientation – students who have graduated from high school or equivalent (GED), including transfer students.
- PSEO New Student Orientation – students who will be taking classes at NHCC while still classified as a high school student.
2. Second, you will need to participate in a Registration Session with an Academic Advisor. During the Registration Session, your Advisor will help you select and register for classes and answer any questions or concerns.
-
To schedule your Registration Session, you will receive an email after completion of Online Orientation with a link to schedule the appointment. You will receive this email within the next business day after completing the Online Orientation.
You will have an Orientation hold on your account until you complete the Online Orientation, and you will have a Registration Session hold until you meet with an Academic Advisor. These holds will prevent you from registering for classes on your own.
Students must have valid Reading and English placements to be eligible for a one-on-one registration session and will not be able to meet with an advisor until they have valid course placement scores or waivers. To get started, please complete the Course Placement Evaluation Form. If you have any questions, please contact Testing Center at 763-424-0928 or testingcenter@nineoceansmedia.com.
